The Rock-itt : July 2012
Hi Everyone, yes Pete’s back up on his soapbox asking you the same question which I ask every issue, “Give us a hand mate?” Month after month I plead with you to help stop the holocaust which is killing unmercifully our Australian sheep, cattle, pigs and bird life and sea life, yet the beat goes on, yes the beat goes on as they are shipped out in their hundreds of thousands without a finger being raised to stop it happening, and believe me, their last days of life on the death ships of misery and suffering, are HORRENDOUS. Are we too busy to be concerned? Perhaps yes. I stopped at a set of lights the other day and everyone at the crossing had a mobile phone to their ear. But despite the frantic pace at which we are travelling these days there are certain things which are happening around us that need to be addressed such as the welfare of our birdlife, sea life, cattle, sheep and all living creatures need to be taken into account. He’s alone and defenceless and being flogged before butchered. All it takes is 20 minutes of your time to sit down and write a letter to your local member or even the Prime Minister herself demanding that “Live Export” of our Australian Animals and birds be stopped. Get the whole family to sign it. I’m sure the kids would want to be part of this too. These two Aussie sheep are laying in a market place somewhere in the middle east. Soon someone will come along, buy them, stuff them live into the boot of their car and in stifling heat take them to be ceremoniously butchered and barbecued. Note the sheep’s leg across its partners. And they say animals don’t know what love is. How did we humans ever let it come to this? This is our wake-up call Australia, the time for change has arrived. If you need a little persuasion to get going, log onto Animal Australia’s website and check out the video footage which has been taken showing the cruelty to our beautiful defenceless animals which most of us turn a blind eye to helping. It wouldn’t be a bad idea not to show the kids as perhaps hearing them cry and seeing the tears running down their cheeks is not what anyone wants to hear or see. Children are innocent and oblivious to what’s going on at their age, the same as the animals that are suffering. By the way, my point of view as editor of The Rock- itt Magazine is an independent protest and apart from being a supporting member of Animal Australia, they have nothing to do with what I write, so if you’re offended by anything in this feature, direct your criticism at me and not that noble organisation. I’ve added a few snaps which give you some kind of idea of what our beautiful animals have to suffer when they get shipped to places where laws on animal cruelty are nonexistent. This poor chap who once roamed the green hills of Australia with the rest of his heard, now lies bound and alone on a cold cement floor in some foreign country waiting his turn to have his life extinguished. No one would have given his death a second thought. Don’t allow this to continue. The Animal Australia website is www.animalsaustralia.org.au
