The Rock-itt : July 2012
This Month Featuring; Mitchell Thompson and Is It Her Mitchell Thompson and band ‘Is It Her’ have been around for a while now and have appeared in The Rock-itt several times even though they are still only ‘Young Guns’. Each time I hear of them they are just that little further up the music ladder and making themselves well known, not only on their home turf on the Northern Beaches, but now in a bigger circle as Mitchell Thompson, front man for the band has made it into the extremely popular music show “The Voice” which is screened on national television and is beamed right around Australia. I think with this extra, new, large, feather that Mitchell has now protruding from his music cap it might be time that we reviewed Mitchell and the rest of the guys from ‘Is It Hers’ just to keep you in the loop as to how our Beaches Boys are travelling. ‘Is It Her’ are a young up and coming band from Sydney, Australia. Currently the band comprises of Mitchell Thompson (Guitar and lead vocals), Liam Hogan (Drums and Percussion) Damien Smith (Bass) and Tim Conlon (Guitar and Vocals). Crossing several genres of music, ‘Is it Her’ perform a solid range of material from melodic rock to pop rock with the inclusion of heavier tunes. Formed in 2007, the band have competed in various band competitions across greater Sydney and have shown great potential at a young age. Supporting the likes of Daryl Braithwaite, Richard Clapton, the Radiators and the Black Sorrows has seen ‘Is it Her’ grow from strength to strength and firmly establish themselves on the Sydney music scene. ‘Is it Her’ have been acclaimed by Mark Gable (Choirboys), Jess Origliasso (The Veronicas) Ray (The Hard-ons) and Herm Kovac (Ted Mulray Gang) amongst others. Lead singer, Mitchell Thompson was featured on the Nine network television show, 'The Voice Australia' in 2012 on Seal's team, with rave reviews from the judges. ‘Is it Her’ play m ostly original material and site their m ain influences as The Cure, The Smiths, Muse and Kings of Leon. Mitchell continues to have a loyal and ever growing youtube and social media following since leaving The Voice. ‘ Is it Her’ continue to write their own music and will be performing locally at gigs for the remainder of 2012. The Rock-itt will be keeping its eye on ‘Is It Her’.
