Dane Cox – Musician, Guitarist, Singer/Songwriter From the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia We mentioned in our July Rock-itt that Northern Beaches 17 year old guitarist and singer/songwriter, Dane Cox, was off to the United States after being selected to represent Australia in the W orld Championships of the Performing Arts. Dane is back with a whole swag of silver and bronze medals for his efforts. Dane, in year 11 at the Northern Beaches Christian School, went to the competition staged in Hollywood California, determined to do his best and the 3 silver and 4 bronze medals that he now has proudly in his possession are proof of the great effort that he put in. When The Rock- itt spoke to Dane he was over the moon with the whole experience and was eager to tell us all about it. It was an absolutely “Life Changing” experience for both him and his mum, Debbie and an opportunity that has changed Dane’s life forever in so many ways. He was able to actually see and feel his dream (in person). Talk about feeding your dream! This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity has paved a great road for Dane’s career in the music/ entertainment industry. Dane was representing Australia at the 2011 “World Championships of Performing Arts” (WCOPA) – held in Hollywood, Los Angeles, USA. He competed in the “Songwriting and Guitar Instrumental” categories. Over 75,000 applicants from 50 countries and the USA auditioned for a spot to compete at the 15th anniversary at what is cited as the official “Talent Olympics”. Australia was to select just 33 applicants to send over to Hollywood, m eaning Dane is one of only 33 out of all Australia to represent his country at this prestigious international event. Dane entered a total of 7 events, four vocal with self-accompaniment and three guitar instrumentals. He played his own (original), songs for every event. He made it all the way
