The Rock-itt : August 2011
break to make the score 14 blot. As oranges were being taken, Coach Ryan Picard settled the ship by telling his boys that they had a second half to go and not to become complacent and let Berowra off the hook. In the pas,t the Bears had led at the break on a few occasions but had let the game slip through their hands due to lapses in concentration. But when the Bears took the field in the second half they were determined that today this would not be the case. Their defence was rock solid right the way through the second half and even with Berowra pounding the line in an effort to get back into the gam e the Bears held them out. Even with eleven men on the field after two Bears players had been sin binned they still managed to hold Berowra out until finally they scored due to a lucky bounce of the ball which saw them plant one down in the corner. In conclusion, the Bears cam e back after receiving a thumping all season winning their first game in more than three seasons, yet they never gave up showing that the “never say die” Bear spirit was there all the tim e just waiting to emerge. Final score was Bears 14 defeat ed Berowra 4. Josh Lester 3, Dan Harris 2, and Chris Percival 1 Coach Award went to Brett Allpress, Players Player went to Josh Lester. This will be the last report on the senior players for 2011 as their season is over. But we will be back in September for the conclusion of the juniors.
