The Rock-itt : November 2009
In some exciting news for the Australian Film Industry, the movie Samson and Delilah has been announced as the country's entry for best foreign language film at next year's academy awards. Most of the dialogue in the film is indigenous dialect, Walpiri, therefore making it eligible for the award. Australia has never had a film selected as a finalist. The Australian dollar forced the Green Lantern out of the country and now the third instalment of the XXX series, which will feature Vin Diesel, has now decided not to film in Sydney. Instead Mad Max 4 will be filmed in Sydney and at Sydney's Fox Studios. And who will replace Mel Gibson as Mad Max; early rumours say Sam Worthington (Terminator 4, Avatar) Back in 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger fended off 'Predator' in a fight to the death battle, and coming to a cinema in 2010 Predator will be back, but now in a battle with Adrien Brody (The Pianist, King Kong). The actor best known for his work in drama-based films signed on for the film hoping to re-invent himself as an action hero. The 3rd instalment of the Predator series will feature another odd casting option with "That 70's Show' star Topher Grace also signed on. The A-Team film which will be released mid 2010 has finally revealed a picture of the new team. Liam Neeson (Batman Begins, Taken), Bradley Cooper (The Hangover), UFC Champion Fighter BA Baracas, and Sharlto Copley (District 9) make up the 4-man Iraq War Veterans who must clear there name after being framed. Alec Baldwin did it first, then Harrison Ford, and most recently Ben Affleck played the character, Jack Ryan from the award winning novels penned by Tom Clancy. Now Star Trek star Chris Pine has begun negotiations with the film studio as they hope to sign the young and up and coming actor for Ryan's next assignment. Chris Pine is also signed on to star in the Star Trek sequel.
