The Rock-itt : June 2012
This Month: The Swinging Sixties It was an incredible era when so many things happened in such a short space of time. The Vietnam war was moving into full swing, the assassination of President John Kennedy, man finally set foot on the moon, Flower Power was born in San Francisco and free love began setting the trend for the youth of the period. The fashion world changed dramatically and so did music, which saw a whole generation embrace the wonderful lyrics and m elodies which would eventually become evergreens for years to come. This all happened over a half a century ago, yet it is almost as though that wonderful era was documented for the world in indelible ink, because even today’s generation is embracing what the youth of a past gone era did all those years ago. One of the best things about today’s music is that tribute bands or sixties bands if you like, have the ability to transport back in time, anyone who wants to visit those heady days when the world was moving at such a frantic pace. These m usic virtuosos have so perfected their art that it is as good, if not better than hearing the original performances an age ago. The “Swinging Sixties” are just one of these fabulous groups who are around today, ready to transport you through time for a glimpse of what it sounded like and how it felt when everything was changing and music was evolving for the better. The “Swinging Sixties” will be performing at the Collaroy Beach Club on Friday 29th June I’ve already booked my table because I’m just about ready again to be taken back in time with some of the best rock music ever produced. See you there and I’ll bet my sixties boots that like m e, you won’t be disappointed....... Pete. Appearing at The Beach Club Friday 29th June 7:30 to 11pm Top Sydney 60's band playing the best of the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Kinks, Monkees, Easybeats and more since 1987.... To see and hear this rockin' 60's flavoured group is to be transported back in time to the most exciting era in pop music. Being a tribute to the period rather than a tribute to any one band, ‘The Swinging Sixties’ have the flexibility to play ALL the big hits of the decade. Now in its 25th year, this is the original and best line-up (having once held an 8 year residency at the iconic Woolloomooloo Bay Hotel), has now reassembled to take the band forward. Complete with velvet collared suits, Vox amps and Rickenbacker guitars, the original Swinging Sixties will have the house rockin' and your feet stompin.' If you like 60s music, then this is for you. W hy not get a group of friends together have dinner in the dining room before the show, then have the tim e of your life as ‘The Swinging Sixties’ entertain you.
