The Rock-itt : May 2012
After having met and fallen in love, the couple in the paintings were now depicted in tender closeness. In "Twilight Reflections" we see them tranquil and within each other's comforting repose. The double entendre of several of the paintings' titles is never more apparent than in this piece, the couple reflecting on their past and future over their images and the twilight crescent moon reflected in the pool. The snow leopard has again made its appearance, and again "breaks the fourth wall" with its steady gaze at us that brings us more directly into the scene. The final painting Robert produced for "Romance In Paradise" was "Summer Waltz," adding a new, sun-drenched color scheme to the series, and presenting the couple in a day-is-done dance. All the hunt and chase are over, and they gracefully revel in their eternal union, the leopard now in a gesture suggesting it is no longer an uneasy outsider, but a part of the "family. " As Robert Florczak's professional art career enters its fortieth year, he is as creatively vigorous as ever, taking on yet another hat by becoming a writer on Hollywood history, another of his life- long passions. In the works are several books including "Movie Locations-Then & Now," a collection of his photographs taken at the actual locations of scenes from famous films from around the world. Also, a book called "Errol Flynn- An Illustrated Life Chronology," which has been several years in the making and presents a day-to-day description of Flynn's incredible life, filled with hundreds of rare photos, documents, and letters. These are just a few of the projects that Florczak will soon be releasing, and no doubt his ever active imagination and passions will continue to give us more and more to enjoy in the years to come.
