The Rock-itt : May 2012
DD Da Pete Johnson D Dee Why Hotel Rocks The Dee Why Hotel has brought in some very special artists to fill their May entertainment program. Dan Spillane, former Northern Beaches boy and Australian Idol contestant, has been booked for their new and exciting ‘We Fridays’ and is coming armed with a repertoire of great cover songs which is the largest I have seen. But before we post a list, let’s take a look at this talented young Aussie entertainer and see if we can enlighten you a little more as just what to expect when you rock down to Dee Why Hotel on Friday night to grab your hit of great music to get your weekend up and running. Dan Spillane always wanted a career in music and because of the talent he was blessed with, succeeded in doing just that. In early 2005, Dan entered the Australian Idol auditions. He’d been inspired by the talents and courage of previous contestants who had taken to the stage to perform in front of the whole of Australia to showcase their talents. Dan knew he would never be at rest unless he followed in the true Australian tradition of “giving it a go”, so he did and it became one of the best decisions he ever made. Although, it must have been a little unnerving to say the least, as Dan already had forged a successful career in sales and inwardly, Dan must have known the risk he was taking by laying this all on the table to chase a dream. So Dan entered the competition along with 30,000 other young hopefuls with an absolute brilliant result of finishing in the first five. Dan was ecstatic at coming 5th overall in one of Australia’s most prestigious television events which boosted his confidence enormously and set him on the road to fulfilling his dream in the world of entertainment.
