The Rock-itt : April 2012
Friday April 20 Stones at Manly Fishos It’s going to be a big April for Fisho’s in Ragland Street, Manly when they open the doors to their music venue “Stones”. They have some great entertainment lined up by events manager, Cristo Tracey who has booked some excellent out of Beaches outfits as well as some great local talent who will definitely have the joint “pumpin and jumpin”. X, Chicken Stones and Young Docteurs have been booked on the same bill and should have patrons “hoppin and boppin” and bringing the atmosphere alive with electricity. Here is some info to get you acquainted with the bands before you get down to see them. Check out the full page advertisem ent opposite to find out what other great entertainment is in store for you this month. X is an Australian punk rock ‘n’ roll band, formed in Sydney in 1977. The story of X is as tragic as it is sordid. With more deaths than an Agatha Christie novel, X has been proclaim ed as “The band they couldn’t kill”. Steve Lucas, lead vocalist and guitarist is the sole surviving m ember of the original band. In 2009 “X- Aspirations” the album first recorded by X in 1977 was re-released prom pting Steve Lucas to put together a line up and take the music of X back on the road. In 2010 he took the band on its first US tour followed by the release of an album of lost four track recordings in 2011 ”X- Spurts”. Now in 2012 Steve is taking the current line up of X on its last ever Australian tour before retiring the legend that is X. X have invited some outstanding locals to share the stage. Local northern beaches band Chickenstones are well known in the area for what they call shenanigans and this night will be no exception. Stepping straight out of a sinister B grade western, Chickenstones present their brand of swamp and rock 'n roll. If you've lost at cards, cheated on your partner, drank like a mother, or been chased out of town they will offer you no redemption. Dance while they shoot at your feet. Young Docteurs are also on the bill returning to the Northern beaches with their own brand of punk psychedelia. Young Docteurs were first formed in 1978 and have released a number of records on the Festival Records label. Young Docteurs also have a tie to the beaches with Vocalist Chris Shakallis residing in nearby Fairlight. Tickets are available through Moshtix at $15 plus booking fee. Doors open at 8pm.
