The Rock-itt : March 2012
The Time & Tide Hotel have certainly given their patrons som e great music entertainment this summer by providing a variety of bands that suit the genre of a great ‘Sunday Afternoon in the Beer Garden’ and this month I’ll guarantee you that what they have lined up is bound to please the punters. This month, a top Newcastle band who call them selves Granite Revolution will sling their guitars and plug in to deliver som e good old Sunday arvo rock. If you like ’The Baby Animals’, AC/DC, Grinspoon, Wolf Mother, The Screaming Jets, Pink, Noiseworks and U2 just to name a few, then Sunday Afternoon in the Beer Garden is where you should be on 11 th March at 2pm. I’ll be down there to have lunch at the Bistro, a few coldies and check them out. See you there! Pete Granite was Formed in late 2008 and secured their first gig in May 2009. The band has developed over the years into a powerful unit with big production and a big sound. Granite Revolution are an established Newcastle based Pub Rock Cover Band playing at premier venues from Sydney, Newcastle and through to the North Coast over the last 4 years. Sydney Venues include the Oatley Hotel, Bradbury Hotel, Hornsby Inn, Time and Tide Hotel, Beverley Hill Hotel, and The Yardhouse plus more. Fronted by strong Female Rock vocal Cathi White and great musicianship this band is bound to have people on the dance floor.. Chris is the lead Guitarist having over 30 years experience residing from England's circuit and playing in several Australian bands over this tim e. Heath on Bass holds a very tight groove with impressive runs and solo's & one of Newcastle's finest Bass players. Brendan on drums has been playing drums since a young boy for over 15 years creating that tight groove behind a solid line up. The line up is very strong and a great bunch of musicians that are a pleasure to watch and hear. “Granite” stands for Rock and “Revolution” stands for Roll. Put the two together and you’ve got ROCK N ROLL! The band was recently invited to play alongside talent like, Sally Chatfield (X Factor) and local original acts such as the rapidly rising “Jupiter Menace” at the “Shine On” event held at Maitland City Bowlo, raising funds for the Queensland flood relief. Cathi Rose White is one of Newcastle’s finest rock chicks. I don’t know of any other female rock vocalist who can match Cathi’s endurance and stamina throughout the 3 x 55 minute sets. Especially singing the likes of The Baby Animals, AC/DC, Grinspoon, Wolfmother, The Sreamimg Jets, Pink, Noiseworks & U2 to name a few artists covered.
