The Rock-itt : January 2012
Over the next couple of months and re-visits to the Cavern, Brian decided that he wanted to manage The Beatles and after a short chase finally got them to sign on the dotted line. John Lennon, however, wasn’t keen at first as I expect he assumed someone was encroaching on his territory. He was regarded as top dog in the group and this got his back up, especially someone in a suit, which meant to a rebellious young John, “The Establishment!” But after much discussion between themselves, Epstein and his team, a contract was drawn up and signed, bringing another link in the chain of future events together. I have always said in my view of The Beatles that this successful mating in music’s history was not just the four musicians, singer/songwriters, but six m embers. The other two members were the directional force which would plot the course to which the Beatles would steer. Now with the addition of Brian Epstein to the group, we have five m embers, yet to make the complete chain there was still one link missing. During a break between sets, Brian approached The Beatles and spoke to them briefly. They knew who he was straight away as they had seen him when they were in and out of his record shop buying the latest records that had arrived from the United States. Soon the penny dropped when he recognised that they were the kids that were always browsing the record stands whenever a new shipment came in. “So these were The Beatles,” he mused. “Now what can I do with them?” WHERE TO GET THE ROCK-ITT Calabria Club Manly Vale, JB HI-FI Warringah Mall, Medical Centre Warringah Mall, HCF Dental Warringah Mall, HCF Eyecare Warringah Mall, Warriewood Medical Centre, Cash Traders Dee Why, Takeaway Chicken Shop Newport Beach BSW Bottle Shop Newport, Terrey Hills Tavern Mona Vale Rd Terrey Hills, Tim e & Tide Hotel Campbell Ave Dee Why, Newport Arms Hotel, Mona Vale Hotel Old Barrenjoey Rd, Curl Curl BSW Bottle Shop, Middle Harbour 16ft Skiff Club The Spit, Fishos Manly, Steyne Hotel Manly, Leading Edge Music, Warriewood Square, Eco-Spray Car Wash Cafe, Beacon Hill, Pie Shop Terrey Hills Shops, Coffee Shop Terrey Hills Shops, George the Barber, Roger St Brookvale, (George also keeps back issues) PHONE: 99751105 M:0438751101 Email: pgjay2001@yahoo .com Read it online: www.therockittmagazine.com.au Next month I will tell you who the sixth and final m ember was which helped take The Beatles to the pinnacle of the pop music world.
