The Rock-itt : December 2011
Last month at Manly Beach the Junior Life Saving carnival was held on a bright, warm, sunny day with only the odd cloud in a clear blue sky with Beach and water conditions good. Nineteen clubs with a total of over 1300 nippers participated in the carnival, kicking off early Saturday morning, at precisely 7:30am with the iron person event spearheading the way. Ranging from U8s to U14s competing in various events which took in beach as well as surf competition. There were a whole swag of new recruits who joined in and were ecstatic about their new sport and as a result the numbers of competitors this year should be bolstered by their recruitment. Later as the summer season evolves the level of competition will increase as they move further toward the state titles which begin in March. David Goodwin has sent The Rock-itt some cracking action shots of the com petitors in action at the Carnival which was won by Manly LSC. Report by Pete Johnson Photos by Dave Goodwin
