The Rock-itt : December 2011
Stop the Live Export of Our Animals Overseas Christmas has finally arrived on our doorstep and here we are gearing up to count down the twelve days till Christmas so we can celebrate the silly season. We will erect the tree in the lounge room and have a marvellous time putting on the lights and decorations, wrap and place the presents beneath it and possibly start ordering the ham, turkey, prawns and oysters, and plum puddings which will be poured with lashings of custard and cream. Let us not forget to get along to the bottle shop and load up with the wine and champagne, beer and spirits and anything else that will give us that lift which will make Christmas just that little more enjoyable. But what of our cattle and sheep destined for Asia and the Middle East? How will they spend their twelve days till Christmas? Possibly crammed into a truck and shipped down from somewhere up north or out west to a port where a huge ship, built especially to pack as many in at one time as possible is waiting to get under way with its live cargo of misery. I expect the crew will be on penalty rates seeing as its Christmas, everyone stands to make a profit off the backs of our own suffering Australian Animals. They will be transported from their home shores of Australia to some distant country where they will be hung drawn and quartered all in the name of prosperity for the human race, or some of the human race. How many will die in transit? Does it matter? I’m sure that loss has been allowed for. How many will suffer injuries and be made to endure that injury until the ship docks? They’ll probably be sold at a discount being damaged goods. Then when they do reach their destination, they will once again be trucked to the abattoirs for slaughter and don’t forget the under the table transactions, I mean the corrupt government officials need to make a quid on the side, how many will be sold off on the black market to be unmercifully slaughtered in ritual killings for which the pain and suffering must be horrendous. Imagine the fear that is going through these poor, helpless and defenceless Australian animals’ minds. Remember they are not born with speech boxes but if they were, they would be calling out for someone to help them, that is why we who care must be their voices. Tell others what is happening and ask them to join you in this cause, let’s lift this dreaded scourge from our shoulders.
