The Rock-itt : December 2011
This month we start a brand new series featuring art. Fortunately I have struck up a friendship with an amazing chap by the name of Robert Florczak whom you would have read about in our November issue of The Rock-itt in the movie feature ‘Roar’. Robert wrote the music score for the film and produced an album with Terence P Minogue which became a best seller. But music isn’t the only talent that Robert possesses as these paintings along with a biography of the man himself will show. We are proud to exhibit the marvellous works of Robert Florczak................................ Pete Johnson Robert Florczak www.robertflorczak.com Robert Florczak was born in Washington, D.C., attended the prestigious Cooper Union in New York City, studying painting under Will Barnet and photography under Gary Winogrand, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He was Artist-In-Residence at Widener University, taught painting at The Art Institute of Philadelphia, and currently teaches at the Laguna College of Art & Design and the San Francisco Academy of Art. As a professional artist, Robert has enjoyed an active career that spans more than three decades, with extensive work in the fine art, advertising, entertainment, and publishing fields. Florczak's original paintings are in the private collections of Mel Gibson, Michael Jackson (including the logo for Neverland Ranch), Whoopi Goldberg, Jimmy Stewart (now at the James Stewart Theatre in Princeton University), and Paul Allen (co-founder of Microsoft), among others, and in the corporate collections of AT&T, Random House and Beecham Pharmaceuticals, to mention a few. Florczak's art is characterised by an avid interest in historical, literary, and mythological themes of drama and romance, and an intimate understanding of the classical methods of the Old Masters. Additionally, his work reflects a passion for the Distance Thoughts 2004 The Harem 1980 St Patrick 1980
