The Rock-itt : December 2011
Stone Dogs are a northern beaches covers band with roots in the Classic Aussie pub rock bands of the 70s and 80s. Lead Guitarist George explained’ “we all grew up going to see bands like the Angels, INXS, The Church and so many others almost every weekend back in the day and now we love playing that style of music ourselves. This taps into some great memories for the crowds following us as well.” The Stone Dogs have been around since October 2006 although Simon (keys BV), Shane (drums) and Leo (Bass) have been playing in bands together well before that. Recently there has been a new singer for the Dogs – Vic, who brings a new dimension to the show. Apart from his prodigious range and repertoire, Vic loves getting the crowd involved and has taken the entertainment to another level. The Stone Dogs have been playing locally regularly appearing at community functions like the Freshwater Fair for the last 3 years, various parties at local surf clubs and local venues such as the Fishos, Narrabeen RSL and Mona Vale Hotel where they will be playing once again on Friday Decem ber 23rd . Guitarist George said, “The band is looking forward to getting back to the Mona Vale where we first started getting a regular following. It will be great to see our regular fans once again. Of course we are always happy to see some new faces too!” COMEDY AND MAGIC! Boxing Day Gala at The Old Manly Boatshed Boxing Day is traditionally one of the most boring days of the year. I m ean it’s called Boxing Day because it’s all about chucking out your old wrapping paper! I don’t know about you but that’s not my idea of a party. Not to mention everywhere is closed for the Christmas break, half your friends are away and you’re still trying to digest the prev ious day’s gorging while battling a mammoth hangov er. The Old Manly Boatshed is not only still there, it’s open for a night of fun and games to help you burn off that Christmas ham. Hosted by the hilariously talented and decidedly un-hammy magician PiP and his lovely assistant, and a hand-picked selection of som e of Australia’s funniest comics, the boringest day of the year just got fun! The entry fee as always is just $8, that’s a dollar a comic with a bonus magician as your gift with purchase! The Boxing Day Gala kicks off at 8.30pm sharp, tickets av ailable at the door. Get there early to secure a good v antage point for the magic show. The Old Manly Boatshed 40 The Corso MANLY NSW (02) 9977 4443
