The Rock-itt : October 2011
year old warmblood / thoroughbred cross Mr W alker shows great potential with an expressive jumping style. 7 year old Little Miss Perfect, an off the track thoroughbred ridden by Victoria Luxford, also impressed them with her lovely paces but the overall winner was judged to be 6 year old Double Vision, another thoroughbred who didn't make a winner on the racetrack but is showing great talent as an eventer with rider Claudia Graham from Wallaroo NSW. This stunning gelding by sire Quest For Fame is expected to perform well in the future. The highlight of the weekend for many of the 2000 spectators that attended the Sydney International Three Day Event was the public Cross Country walk with W ayne Roycroft on Saturday morning. Wayne's ability to explain the technicalities of riding imposing natural fences to anyone from the completely unversed to the higher level riders is second to none. A number of competitors joined the general public on the informative tour before they rode their cross country round. Stories from W ayne's time as a rider and the Australian coach added to the excitement, as did the Pre Novice competitors who were galloping past on course. Also popular, particularly with Pony Club groups, were the Behind the Scenes Tours with Amy McGRegor, Gold Medallist Stuart Tinney's groom of more than ten years. Topping off the weekend's fun was the ADAA Dog Agility competition that helped to raise funds needed to send the Australian Team to the World Dog Agility Championships in Texas in May 2012. The volunteer organising committee wishes to acknowledge the sponsors of the Sydney International Three Day Event - Telstra, Virgin Australia Airways, Sydney City Toyota, Equestrian Australia, Equestrian NSW, Eventing NSW, Australian Sports Commission, NSW Institute of Sport, Sydney International Equestrian Centre, Lenton Family, Harbour IT, Tarraleah Park, Equitak Excel, Over The Top Equipm ent, IRT, Racenet Bloodstock, Agnes Banks Equine Clinic, Mandavilla, Green Options, Musto, Mount Benson Wines, Horseland Terrey Hills, Giddi Up, Prydes EasiFeed, Motorolla, Prim e Digital Systems, ABS Bloodstock, Horsezone, Horse Deals, Horse Magazine, Main Event Photography, Precision Printers, Snack Brands, Deloittes. Finally, a big thank you to the impressive number of volunteers who spent hours making an event of this magnitude, possible.
