The Rock-itt : October 2011
Stop the Live Export of Our Animals Overseas Fellow Australians another month has passed and still thousands m ore of our Australian Animals have been shipped off to foreign countries to spend the last weeks of their lives here on earth in pain, suffering and absolute misery. Over the last 30 years more than 150 million sheep and 13 million cattle have been shipped to the middle east and Asia to be slaughtered inhumanely, with over 2.5 million of our animals dying during the journey. While our own weak kneed politicians fail to stop the ghastly practice of Live Export, our friends at Animal Australia are working tirelessly to find a way to keep our four legged friends on home soil and away from the barbaric treatment which they must endure both on the ships going over and slaughter houses where they finish up. Still more horrendous stories of cruelty and inhumane treatment to our Animals are filtering out from places such as Turkey, Indonesia and Israel as these photographs verify. While we “um and ah” and our politicians muddle along, thousands of our animals’ lives are in peril with no support coming to their aid. It is we the Australian people who are the culprits in allowing the live transportation process to continue as thousands of our helpless creatures are sent to these hell holes to be beaten, tortured, abused and finally slaughtered without compassion. If in your hearts you believe this is wrong you must speak out for the sake of what is right and stop the inhumane treatment of our own animals who have made this country strong and prosperous and have clothed and fed the Australian population for over 200 years. Try not to think of these living creatures who have just as m uch right to be on this planet as you and I, as just ship loads of sausages,
