The Rock-itt : August 2011
The practice of live exports should be completely done away with and if countries overseas want our meat products they will have to import chilled and frozen meet. We need to use our abattoirs and refrigerated shipping, not send live animals packed in like sardines to suffer pain and misery more than any living creature should be made to endure. The photos that you see here are not exaggerated; they were taken by a caring Australian in an effort to show us what is really going on once our animals reach their overseas destination. We must stand together and make the decision in our own hearts and in our own minds. Say “no” to live exports, let’s stand together and let “people power” save our animals from the pain and suffering that livestock exportation and exploitation is creating. Don’t allow yourself to be desensitised and say that they are just animals and not really worth worrying about. They are worth caring for and the sooner we all understand this the better it will be. These poor creatures given the same love and care as we give our dog or cat will return that love and loyalty. Unfortunately they are a part of the human food source and must forfeit their lives for that reason. But while they are with us we must give them every care and consideration possible and ensure when their time has come to give their life, it as painless as possible. Australia is a very good place and so are its people. But while we put profit before the care, love and consideration of our animals we will never be great. Let’s be a great country. Pete Johnson A bill to ban all live animal exports is submitted to Parliament and will be voted on soon. Please help these animals by lobbying your Federal MP and State Senators to support this bill and by taking part in the Ban Live Export National Rally on 14 August.
