The Rock-itt : August 2011
BLUE VALENTINE Cindy (Michelle Williams) and Dean (Ryan Gosling) meet and fall deeply in love in their early 20’s. Six years later they are m arried and have a beautiful young daughter but their relationship is struggling with the burden of financial worries and disenchantment with each other. They book a hotel for one night in a desperate final attempt to rekindle their failing marriage. One night will either be the fresh start for them or the beginning of the end. I absolutely loved this movie. Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling give amazing performances. They actually lived together prior to filming to make their characters seem realistic, and it works. The movie is beautifully filmed like a shaky camera and is often uncomfortable as you feel like you are intruding into these people’s private lives. Very powerful and really makes you want to com e home and hug your family. MORNING GLORY An old school anchorman who quit his long time evening newscast because of its new gossipy ways is recruited by a hotshot producer who is keen to revive a morning chat show. This movie has big stars like Harrison Ford and Diane Keaton. It’s lots of fun and easy Friday night on the lounge viewing.
