The Rock-itt : July 2011
RABBIT HOLE I was really keen to s ee this to check out Nicole Kidm an’s Oscar nominate performance. Nicole plays Becca. She and her husband, Howie (Aaron Eckhart) have just lost their young son in a tragic road accident and are trying to rebuild their lives. They are trying to work through their pain and understand each other’s different ways of coping with grief. Whilst Howie finds great comfort in their group therapy session, Becca does not find any benefit in this. Becca feels the need to sell their home and start afresh, she also forms an unlikely friendship with a young man involved in their son’s accident. W onderful acting and a great cast. This movie translates well from the stage where it has been a play for some time. THE FIGHTER This movie won best supporting actress (Melissa Leo) and best supporting actor (Christian Bale) at this year’s Oscars. It’s not hard to see why as they were both fantastic performances. The Fighter is based on the true story of two brothers, who against all the odds come together to train for a historic title bout that will unite their fractured families, redeem their pasts, and give what their hard luck town has been waiting for, pride.
