The Rock-itt : June 2011
Toni & Guy are celebrating being manly locals for 10 years this year, not only are they a creatively talented bunch sporting wins from Nemours awards they are charity minded and always willing to lend a hand or brush where needed. I managed to track down Katie the Director of Tony n Guy for a quick chat. How long have you personally been hairdressing for? I started hairdressing in the UK as a Saturday girl when I was 13, I’ve been in the industry for 19 years-I know I don’t look old enough! ha ha “I can agree with that Katie is the picture of health and you can see how much she loves her job having worked with her before.” What are some of your achievements to date? I’m lucky enough to be part of the Australian Artistic team and I have travelled with them nationally and internationally on shows which is fantastic. Also being part of the fellowship of hairdressing F.A.M.E team 2009/2010 was a great experience. I was also a finalist for the Australian Hair Fashion Awards NSW Hairdresser of the year 2010 (see picture above called Katy’s crop) Tony & Guy have a fantastic history of helping out for many different charities around the Northern Beaches can you tell me a little about your causes? Every year for the last 4 years we have participated in the ‘Underwear of Sweden Fashion Show’, which is always a good fun event. W e also do the hair for many local fashion events. W e regularly give door prizes and gift vouchers to local charities, my favourite being a care package $350 for Bear Cottage every year. A fun event early this year was a girls night in @ miss marley’s when we did the hair/nails and tarot readings for 30girls raising money for breast cancer. We are also doing this at the end of May. Winter is just around the corner so what are your recommendations for this season with colour and cut? Coppers and reds are hot and the blondes are honey and toffee. The long bob and the heavy fringe is also a winter favourite - think Kate Moss. Interview by Alyssa Stringfellow Do you have any hot tips on how to keep you hair luscious through these colder windy months? Always invest in a great conditioning treatment in winter. We recomm end Label m Intensive Treatment. As you are moving from hot to cold environments use a product in the hair like Label m leave in conditioner that has high vitamins Now being a hair dresser you must have a most used product? Personally for me my 2 star products are Label m Dry Shampoo which gives me fresh clean hair in 1 minute by absorbing any moisture in the hair, and the Label m Soufflé which is a fantastic finishing product for a soft matt texture. Label m dry shampoo $33.95 Label m soufflé $36.95 Join us on the Toni & Guy Manly Face book page for any winter specials ! 36/38 Sydney Road, Manly NSW 2095 , (02) 9976 2522
