The Rock-itt : May 2011
made it to the Football NSW Team Of The Week after his performance here. W e did however see a wonder goal from Matt Sim, who is fast becoming the fans fa- vourite at Cromer Park. Matt always deliv- ers, his effort and skill is a joy to watch. One up at half time but Olympic came out a different team and from a free kick Rob- ert Luksic squeezed the ball into the net for an equaliser. Justin Hayward, last the rescue. The game ended 1-1 and Olympic coach Peter Tsekenis said he was happy to take a point: "I would have very poor in the first-half and I told the boys things had to change. To their credit they came out after the break and were much better. In the end we could have ROCKDALE CITY SUNS HOME Four gam es in, four draws against very cred- itable opposition and next up was a home tie against bottom club Rockdale City Suns who had one point from three games, surely we would win this and stop the run of draws? The weather decided to empty on us and the pitch was a quagmire. Inexplicably more than a couple of our players had an off day. It could have been so different though when, after a scrappy start with just 20 minutes gone, the now fit again Justin Hayward hurt- led through on goal and was clipped not once but twice by a defender. He hit the deck so obviously deserved. If the ref had thought the spectacular fall was a dive then he should have yellow carded Justin but he just waved play on, unbelievable! The inevitable happened, with 67 minutes Spitz in the penalty area and Sasha Tirovski converted the penalty to give Rockdale the game and their first win of the season. This son but it was still an exciting game to watch with plenty to admire. If Manly had been given the early penalty and converted it then the whole game with five across the back. There is plenty of good football to be had at Cromer Park. We have a very strong ladies competition which is under represented here in the Rock-itt , if you girls out there want to get involved in Soccer then come and join Manly United, all ages welcome.
