It was fifth time lucky for one local band in Warringah Council's premier youth event, Northern Composure Band Competition, which wound up on Friday 8th April. Six contenders put on the performances of their lives at the band competition finals to compete for a share of the $33,000 in prizes. Winner of the Judges Choice Award and major prize was C.O.F.F.I.N. (Children of Finland Fighting in Norway), who finally cracked the big one after five years in the competition. The punk rock/reggae outfit has been together since 2005 and finally launched their debut album at the Northern Composure Band Competition final. Prizes C.O.F.F.I.N. take home include: � Roland Digital Audio Workstation � Ibanez guitar � Perfect Pitch - marketing and publicity package � JAMINAJAR - 2-3 days recording in sound studio � VaVaZoom - film clip of one song during live performance � Continuumusic - live set, mixing, mastering, editing Second place getters of the Judges Choice Award was Four Litre Friday and coming in third place was the much hyped Parapluie. The Audience Choice Award went to The Lower Pluto, who played only their second gig ever at the heats of Northern Composure competition. Other prizes were the Hurley Microphone for the Youth Junior Award, which went to Recording All, and the Schools Award which went to Nostalgia.
