The Rock-itt : April 2011
Welcome back to The Rock-itt’s coverage of the Mighty Manly Sea Eagles 2011 NRL holy grail campaign, with yours truly Paddy McClellan bringing you a month by month review on the ups and downs and in and outs of the greatest game on this planet. With all the dramas of the on field and off field 2010 season well and truly behind us, it’s time to look ahead and get behind our lads as they endeavour to bring home the much coveted holy grail, the NRL championship shield. With a whole swag of young blood coming into the side and players like of Brett Stewart returning after last season’s horror stretch of injuries, it may take a settling down period before we start firing on all eight cylinders. But with coach Dezzy Hasler hot to go, I‘ve no doubt that it will be shape up or ship out for anyone not giving one hundred percent. With 3 rounds already gone as we go to print, our Eagles are looking promising after a first round loss to the Storm then bouncing back to defeat the Roosters and the Knights, giving them back to back wins in rounds 2 and 3. Our next encounter will be against South Sydney Rabbitohs who are knocking on the door for a win. Having viewed some of the other games played, it was good to see teams like Canterbury and Cronulla lifting themselves out of the mire and showing some very positive performances. These two teams in particular play similar football to us and the confrontations which will take place when we meet them will be games not to miss. One swallow doesn’t make a spring so the adage goes but after 3 gam es new hal,f Daly Cherry-Evans, seems to be finding his feet, nicely blending with five eighth, Keiren Foran, who is also going from strength to strength.
