The Rock-itt : March 2011
Splitting Snaketide’s two sets was an appearance by Dave Faulkner lead singer of the Hoodoo Gurus. Dave is one of the greatest songwriters and performers Australia has ever produced. He performed My Girl and Like, W ow, Wipeout with the Snaketide boys and then gave a solo rendition of Come Anytime and one of the Gurus greatest tunes 1000 Miles Away. “Getting up on stage before a decent crowd and launching into Like Wow Wipeout with Dave Faulkner was like every air guitarists dream” said guitarist Ben W icks. “Except it was for real. I think I was the most nervous during the sound check when Dave was checking us out to ensure we weren’t crap. Dave was a great guy and in the actual show I was so pumped I had a great time. What I enjoyed the most was the reaction of the audience who felt it was a pretty unique event.” Despite the burden of coming back after Dave Faulkner, Snaketide produced a barnstorming finish and their closing trifecta always cheers the punters - First Date, Mexico and Overdrive. Listen to Mexico on Unearthed <http://www.triplejunearthed.com/Arti sts/View.aspx?artistid=37579> . “I think atthe end oftheday weare an old school rock and roll band” said Richard Murray drummer. “Its all about the energy of the show and trying to ensure that everyone has a great time. We take our music and our act seriously but we leave our egos at home when we perform and we strive to entertain.” “We have decided to have an EP of about 5 songs produced early this year so we can get our music out to people. So if you are a regular reader of Rock-ITT keep a look out!” To keep up to date with what Snaketide are up to and also for a limited time you can down load two of snaketides songs free from www.myspace.com/snaketide Pay a visit to the Red Cross Little Shop of Treasures at Newport.
