The Rock-itt : February 2011
Surf Lifesaving Junior Carnival Narrabeen 16th January 2011 On an overcast, rainy Sunday morning and in the first month of the New Year, hundreds of young Nippers from our Northern Beaches Life Saving Clubs, converged on Narrabeen Beach to take part in January's junior surf carnival. Competitors turned up on the day to do battle from 21 clubs and although the weather was bleak it took none of the spirit or tenacity away from the competition. Owing to heavy surf conditions and the buildup of a nuisance sandbank, which made the going tough for our youngsters, certain events had to be rescheduled and even cancelled. But as always competition was fierce from start to finish as club members gave everything they had in the tank to try and help win the points score for their club. But there is almost always one ultimate winner and it was the Manly Club who took out the honours on the day for the January Carnival. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so I will let Dave Goodwin's great photo display do the rest of the talking. Report by Pete Johnson Photos by David Goodwin
