The Rock-itt : December 2010
Any Time', 'Bittersweet', 'Miss Freelove '69', '1000 Miles Away', 'The Right Time', 'W hats My Scene' and 'Like Wow - Wipeout". On the second night we were treated to a cracking version of 'Leilani' which saw the band summonsing the power of the "rock gods" bringing guitarist and man of amazing stage athleticism Brad Shepherd to his knees! Dave Faulkner on both nights showed us the captivating power of one voice and one guitar as he got the whole room singing along with him to classic Guru hit 'My Girl'. Of course the Gurus showcased new songs from their new album titled 'Purity Of Essence' such as 'Whats in it for me', 'Ashamed of Me', 'Are You Sleeping (new single)', 'Crackin Up', 'I Hope Your Happy' and 'Another Thing Coming' to name a few that fitted seemlessly into the band's repertoire and shows that the band still has what it takes to produce great rock songs! Popular local music radio presenter "Nige Nuthouse" who has a regular music show (that strongly supports local talent) on Northern Beaches radio station 88.7 - 90.3 FM on Thursday nights at 9.30pm had this to say : "I reckon both bands have still got plenty of fuel in their tanks and fire in their belly's. Anyone who can rock out that hard in that pressure cooker heat (the Fisho's air conditioners struggled to cope!) and keep on blazing the way they did... should be knighted. They never wilted, not even once. Lesser bands would have perished. It was total rock n' roll man, you just don't get gigs like that anymore..."
