The Rock-itt : November 2010
began a successful day with a win in the four year old class on Yandoo Constellation, a big, rhythmically moving horse bred by Oaks Sporthorses. Constellation is by ASB Conquistador out of Galaxie Piereville. Jono Berry on Yandoo Parks's Baloubet Du Romin was 2nd and Hinnerek Hueppe on Oaks Goya, another Conquistador progeny was 3rd. 4th place went to the very flash little chestnut mare Caliente by Conquistador out of a jumping thoroughbred mare called Glory Girl. Brooke Campbell, who grew up riding at Northside, was aboard Copabella Vienna, a scopey big mare by Visage. Vienna easily jumped the 1m height course to finish in 4th place and returned the following day to the NRC monthly competition where she comfortably negotiated the 1.15m class. Sandro Melo had three horses in the five year old class with Costa Brava finishing in 3rd place. Alex Rooney placed 2nd on Tulara Balouch behind the stunning chestnut stallion Copabella Cadiz ridden by Jamie Kermond (pictured above), giving him his second win of the day. The six year olds were slightly less well behaved with som e very opinionated discussions taking place between them and their riders. Rod McQueen could well have been performing in the Man From Snowy River Spectacular and impressed the crowds with his ability to not only stay on, but to then ride a lovely round finishing in 4th place on ASB Vienna another big mare by Vivant and out of Alondra. Natasha Coxon also had a tough ride on her gorgeous grey Halloween, sired by Vivant out of Witchcraft, but she too kept her cool to finish in 3rd place. Jennifer Mitchell's very pretty Sweetshot impressed the judges with a great back end to finish in 2nd place. Jamie Kermond made it a hat trick with his third win of the day, this time on the big grey stallion ASB Caracas. Som e of these young horses will return to the Northside Show Jumping Championships being held on Sunday 14 November. Championship events for Eventing, Dressage and Hacking will also be held in November. Spectators are free and volunteers are encouraged to become part of the NRC team.
