The Rock-itt : September 2010
Julienne Kiely 'Queens of Theme' -- Wednesday's 10-11pm One of a veritable deluge of exciting new night time shows on RNB, Queens of Theme (Weds, 10-11pm) offers not one, but three first time hosts. Appropriately "themed" each week, QoT's content ranges from music to games and interviews with the onus on promoting bands and live entertainment. Julianne, an assistant curator at the Quarantine Station on Manly's North Head in the real world, arrived at the station with three close friends and not letting a lack of previous experience in broadcasting be a hindrance in creating an idiosyncratic and most of all fun radio show. Five months in and the "Queens" (Julianne, Rosina and Marianna) sense of excitement shows no signs of abating. Rosina Rocca 'Queens of Theme' -- Wednesday's 10-11pm Some folk have names born to be in the media. Rosina Rocca, one third of the "Queens of Theme" followed the tried and tested route from hosting social gatherings all the way through to presenting a show on community radio. These soirees would inevitably involve an evening set to a certain theme, hence the moniker bestowed upon both the show and its presenters, this then extended to a weekly radio show where individual songs and the talky bits in between would be similarly linked together. A Corporate Care Specialist for a Payroll/Management Company occupies Rosina in daylight hours but Wednesday nights has been given over to the fun and frivolity of the Queens of Theme. Marianna Bagnato 'Queens of Theme' -- Wednesday's 10-11pm Completing the trio and perhaps the instigator of the whole shebang -- or at least the most culpable -- is Marianna. Richard Bagnato, Marianna's father, has been a presenter of RNB for the best part of a decade (Onde Italiane, Thursday's 7.30-8.30pm) and it was he who inspired Marianna's involvement with the station. Not wanting to present a show by herself Marianna teamed up with two close friends and the Queens of Theme was born. Though working as a Primary School Teacher, Marianna also teams up with Julianne to be an Education Tour Guide at the Quarantine station, where her performing arts background will get to flex its muscles for the Q Stations Community Day on Sept 11 when she will feature in the play Defiance. with Julian Brown
