The Rock-itt : September 2010
Times have changed for popular Northern Beaches based rock band Stone Parade. Gone are the days of commercial rock tracks and instead we find the band heading in a slightly new direction with a more edgier, energetic, low-fi, vibrant and youthful appeal. The band have grown up, come into their own and this is their time now. Having released their debut album 'Chase the Setting Sun' in 2008, Stone Parade have spent the last 6 months creating songs in their Northern Beaches recording studio that reflect where they are now in their lives. They wrote the album for themselves, to imagine themselves without boundaries, or the restricting of creative freedoms. When asked about what has inspired them on this record, bass guitarist Mark Fouche says "I think on the previous record we were looking to outside influences for inspiration, however this time round we looked within ourselves and each other and learned to seek inspiration from the little day to day things in our lives not so much the big events outside which impacted the world around us." The end result is 'Stratosphere', which is due for release this October. 'Stratosphere' was mixed by world reknowned US producer, Mark Needham, who's past works include The Killers and needless to say, the band were delighted to have him on board. The first single off the album 'Paranoia' was released on iTunes last week and the band are set to celebrate its release with a headlining show at the iconic Annandale Hotel this Saturday September 4th. The single has been well received by industry over previous weeks and the bands profile is on the rise. The song has been picked by 44 stations nationwide and continues to be added to more weekly. They have also scored a major synch deal with ONE HD/NETWORK 10 which will see the song used as promo for soccer and AFL on a 3 month contract, up to 10 times a day. In addition, Stone Parade will be 'Feature Artist of the Month' for September giving wonderful exposure to both the song and video, which was produced by Sydneysider filmmakers Nick and George Kacevski. The band are pumped for the single launch this week at the Annandale Hotel and the chance to celebrate their achievements with industry and their loyal fan base. They also look forward to hitting the road to tour nationally from October.
