The Rock-itt : August 2010
with the whole crowd joining in the anthemic chorus. The band then ripped into a few Ramones and EasyBeats classics. The response from the large crowd was overwhelming and enthusiastic which then saw the band play their most popular song and single from the 1980's 'Holiday' with original vocalist of The Overtones Pete Durkacz doing a smashing job! To conclude their set the band performed their songs 'What You're Doing to Me' and ending on a big note with the very catchy tune 'What Can I Say' whose video was aired on Rage TV and played on Triple J and other radio stations all over Australia during 1998. Next up was Dead Rabids featuring Bob Short (who incidentally was to perform at his big 50th bash at the Excelsior Hotel, Sydney on the following Sunday) from Sydney's legendary 1970's punk band Filth whose singer was Pete Tillman from Lipstick Killers. Playing such classic filth tracks 'Thalidomide Child', 'Do the Harold Holt' (very topical Prime Minister song!), original Dead Rabid songs and Chuck Berry's 'Louie Louie' showing us all how punk rock should be played and performed! To conclude the night Snaketide (third place winners of the Manly Marvels Band Competition) hit the stage running with their charismatic, super energetic frontman Myles -- tearing up the stage with the band putting on a blistering performance and an encore which saw the crowd dancing madly right to the end of the night! Dave said when asked about the night..."This was the BEST party of my life!" Dave wishes to extend huge thank you to his girlfriend Selina, all his family, friends, performers and everyone who attended and helped to make this such a successful and memorable night of a lifetime.
