The Rock-itt : July 2010
Tuesday June 8, 2010 This was the last heat before the two wildcard heats that were to follow. The night saw a big line up of eight bands battle it out in front of one of the largest crowds seen during the band comp. The bands competing were Seek The Silence, Left Me Cold, Sideshow Alley, Mending Melissa, Rabble Rabble, Recording All, Standing Silence and Modern Era. The night went as followed: Standing Silence were young and energetic with lots of crowd participation and sounded a bit like Siouxsie and the Banshees; Rabble Rabble were a slick, melodic, alternative rock band with the vocalist having a strong vocal range and sounded a bit like a heavier Powderfinger; Modern Era were a big sounding three piece band with a grungy metallica kind of sound; Recording All were a young three piece modern punk band with lots of energy similar to Short Stack who really got the crowd involved whilst they were playing and a Blink 182 song to finish sent the crowd at the front into a frenzy; Seek The Silence came on with amazing confidence and professionalism, a local punk/pop/ska band who has improved immensely, recently won a major northern beaches band competition and will be one of the favourites in this competition; Sideshow Alley played their straight down the line alternative rock and pleasing the punters who came to see them; Mending Melissa another favourite in this competition who's vocalist looks a bit like a younger version of Angelina Jolie and has an amazing voice and stage presence like Adalita from Magic Dirt and Ella from For photos of events covered by Dave visit www.myspace.com/davetozerphotos
