The Rock-itt : June 2010
State of Origin and the Socceroos aren't the only thing coming to 3D, as Disney has announced that Captain Jack Sparrow will be seen in the third dimension when Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides is released in 2011. It comes as an odd decision from Disney who was drastically cutting costs for the film, but obviously feels that you have to spend some money to make some money, as tickets for 3D films are more expensive. Our home grown actors and actresses are taking over Hollywood at the moment and another Australian has picked up a much sought after role. Naomi Watts has been signed on to play pop culture icon, Marilyn Monroe in the biopic 'Blonde'. The film is based on Joyce Carol Oates novel and will be directed by Andrew Dominik (Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford). DC Comic officials are fuming after leaked photos of their next film 'The Green Lantern' starring Ryan Reynolds, Mark Strong, and Peter Sarsgaard were revealed. The film which was originally set to be filmed in Sydney, now in Louisiana is using new technology where Reynold's superhero costume will be in CGI and put in post-production. The other picture shows Peter Sarsgaard after a long make-up session. The highest grossing movie of all time, 'Avatar' has a sequel in the works and a release date is not far off. But don't get too excited as the sequel is predicted to take 3-4 years to make. Writer/Director, James Cameron has stated that the film will be focused on the oceans surrounding the islands of Pandora. The story of arguably the world's most recognisable band is coming to the big screen with 'The Beatles' biopic in the works with ex-Oasis band member, Liam Gallagher to produce. An adaptation of the book 'The Longest Cocktail Party' gives an inside look at the group's dealings with agents, managers and producers, their relationships both marital and extra-marital, the crazy parties, and the eventual breakup of the band. Transformers 2 got some terrible reviews when it came out and star of the movie, Megan Fox thought she knew why, stating that even she thought the movie wasn't good, and compared notoriously ill-tempered director Michael Bay to Aldolf Hitler. Well it has come as no surprise that Fox will not be in the third film with first stories claiming that she had been dumped from the story, until further inquires revealed she quit. It has heavily rumored that Gemma Atherton (Prince of Persia) will take helm as the leading lady.
