The Rock-itt : May 2010
Manly Fisho's, Saturday 24 April With sound check done and the clock ticking, the screaming girls became silent as 'The Cadres' lead singer began, unaccompanied. For the next 40 minutes, Manly Fisho's was filled with a rock sound influenced by 'Kings of Leon', 'Jet' and 'Led Zeppelin' alike. For a band that has only been together for 6 months, 'The Cadres' performed with a professionalism seen from bands that have been together for years. With solid vocals and obvious musical talent, the boys kept the crowd dancing the whole time. Hailing from North Sydney; Heath, Lucas, Daniel and Jack have been gigging since August '09. When asked how they met, lead singer Heath simply responded " rival schools ( laughs) , our schools were across the road from each other and for whatever reason there was a problem. We all knew each other outside of school though". Friends now, the only disagreement the boys seem to have is who their sound most reflects. Although one creative difference that works for them is their writing style. With each individual member writing their own piece, you are guaranteed a new feel every time, keeping each show fresh, interesting and fans wanting more. Doors open at 8pm, $10 cover charge. We will be playing from 10.30 -- 11.45pm At long after 14 months in the making, Aussie Boy and mates have completed their debut album -- Let's Hit the Beach. It is a great album of positive catchy upbeat tunes with many songs written about Australia, its beaches and the great country we live in. There is also a Steve Irwin tribute song that will send shivers down the spine of any Steve Irwin fan. If you love the surf, the beaches and Australia in general you will love these guys. Their music is back to that classic surf rock 80 pub sound and sure to impress anyone who just wants to see a vintage rock band...Compared mostly to the Hodoo Gurus, Mental as Anything, Inxs and Throw the Ramones for good measure. These guys just love putting the fun back into music and this certainly shows up on stage (no one is safe in the audience). So for something original, fun and entertaining come along and see these guys unleashing their unquestionable musical passion. These days we are a 5 piece band and loving the chance to play our tunes when we can....my mates are Todd McPhee (Todmania) on the drums, Dave Shaw (Surfer Boy)on guitar -former Stems member, Wiggy (Aussie Wench) on the keys and Country Boy Rob on the bass. Perhaps a few other surprise appearances. Oh yeah and me Aussie boy on guitar and vocals. This will be a great night with free CD giveaways on the night, personally signed by the band if you're lucky. We will also have some great stuff from www.musicforcause.com our website that is changing the world through music. We also have some great local talent supporting with Ashton Tremain and Lyric. Here's a link to our myspace and triple jay unearthed if you wish to have a listen beforehand. http://www.triplejunearthed.com/Au ssieBoyandMates http://www.myspace.com/aussieboy nmates Hope to see you there !!! We will put a smile on your face !!! Keep it real and more unreal in rock n roll. Russ Pearce (Aussie Boy) 0433 237 004
