The Rock-itt : April 2010
halves combination finally clicked, who knows? But if the Eagles continue to play the way they did against the Knights we will be up there come October. Keiran Foran continues to show he has the credentials to go all the way this season and the return to form of Brent Kite is a joy to see. Steve Matai is also ready for a big season if injury woes finally give him a break and the combination of George Rose and Jason King up front will give our attack plenty of time to move the ball around. Having the worse two seasons of his life, champion fullback, Brett Stewart, must be wondering which one of the Gods he's offended. Last season was bad enough, having missed a great deal of the season with an injured knee then after only two runs under his belt this year, the same thing has occurred, only this time it's worse, with the injury putting him on the sick bench for the entire 2010 season. However, the recruitment of Ben Farrar last season must now appear as a master stroke of genius. Farrar is a very good fullback and rather than take the flying Scott, Michael Robinson, from his preferred position on the wing to fill Stewart's vacant Tentspot, Hasler can now slot Farrar into fullback, leave Robinson on the flank ,and play Keiran Foran at five eighth. This would put Jaimie Lyon back into the centres to partner Steve Matai and Tony Williams to play on the other wing in place of injured David Williams. Now we still have to sort out the half position which is of prime importance. If I were on the selection committee I would be suggesting that Trent Hodkinson be retained in that position. He acquitted himself quite admirably against the Knights and his inclusion will definitely be a good balance for Hasler. If we can maintain this combination for a good part of the season I believet the Sea Eagles will be unbeatable by the time the finals come round. This is my run-on team to play the Warriors in New Zealand on Sunday 4 April.
