The Rock-itt : March 2010
Jon Ridge took the opportunity to employ the backing of The Wantin as he showed that he is well and truly back to his top form. Jon began with Merle's "The Bottle Let Me Down", for a lively set including "Guitars and Cadillacs", "Johnny B. Goode", "The Outback Club" and "I'm From the Country". Great to have Jon back. Another treat for the Belrose audience was the stunning young lady from Dubbo in Margie May Hockey. Her fabulous performance was one of a singer way beyond her tender age of just 13 years! Especially memorable was her beautiful rendition of Beccy Cole's "Poster Girl" accompanied by her dad Kevin on keys. Margie May, took us with her dad and Ridgie Didge on a musical journey through "Hey Good Lookin'", "I'm Gonna Dance Tonight" her own composition , as well as "Stupid Cupid", "I saw the Light" and "Blue Moon of Kentucky". As an encore, and a special request, Margie May sang a knockout version of "The River". Wow ! This young lady is headed for the big time and we heard it all first at Belrose. Watch her go! Another local lad, Peter Eliot rounded out a great program as he performed with the band and vocal backing from Geoff. Pete's enthusiasm and attention to detail achieved a pleasing performance with everyone combining well . The audience enjoyed his selection of songs including "The Kind of Man I've become", "Anyone Else But You", "The King is Gone", "California Blue", "Once a Day" and a terrific finish with special effects from Brian Ridge in the Mavericks' "Dance the Night Away". Foster talent ? We certainly do! Top effort Pete! All the performers joined the musos and, led by Geoff Williams, took part in the fantastic finale, a Belrose tradition, to complete the show and thank those who took part. With the news of regular audience members, Pat and John Reynolds losing everything in a disastrous house fire near Christmas, the audience responded with generosity in an outstanding raffle collection that will help a little. Belrose Country music Club hold shows from 2-6 pm on the last Sunday each month. Jon Ridge The Wantin and Jon Ridge Margie May Hockey and her Dad
