The Rock-itt : February 2010
singing back up, Andrew never missed a beat! It was really awesome to see three Maybury brothers rocking out on stage! Nick Maybury's big brother James, frontman for Jimmy Swouse and the Angry Darts then went on to do a set with his band. This saw Nick take his only five minute break for the whole night to grab a drink and stretch his fingers, but before their second song was through Nick was up on stage with his brother playing Air Guitar!! Neil Ohlback played a great set with Maybury, and they really got the crowd jumping, dancing and singing. You could really see how well Neil and Maybury knew each other as they improvised and played off each other's chords and melodies. Grant Vaka was another singer and long time friend of Maybury's, they preformed 'Janes Addictions' Mountain song, as well as a few others and the crowd were talking about him and singing him praises well after the music had stopped for the night. Dressed as a mad ninja, Ryan Clark took the stage for a couple of songs including 'Foxy Lady' by Hendrix, Ryan is a singer born to preform and rocked it like no other! Keep an eye out for his Northern Beaches based band Ninjas with attidude. Before the night was finished Maybury had unleashed his full arsenal of Rock n' Roll moves including jumping off the drum high rise, doing summersaults on the ground mid song, and even playing his guitar with his teeth!!! Brittney Burk from Gold Rush -- a DJ act Maybury plays with in L.A. was here in Sydney for the night and did an awesome job DJing making sure transitions from songs and changeovers in musicians went smoothly and unnoticed by the crowd. She really set an awesome vibe and atmosphere for the Fishos. Nick Maybury has returned to America for now, but the 'ROCK-ITT ' will be sure to keep you informed of his movements and achievements in the future. We wish our home grown hero good luck on his journey and hope we see him again soon!
