The Rock-itt : February 2010
Beaches, multi - international award winning, singer songwriter, Kate Lush has been making a huge splash in the music industry lately, turning heads both here and overseas where she has won many prestigious awards for her music, including American IAMA'S Best Female Artist for her song 'Isabelle' and Best International Artist (Songwriters Association of Washington) and when you listen to her sensational new album 'Don't Wait Too Long', which is pure listening pleasure, you will understand why. Likened to Sheryl Crow, Kate refers to herself as a rocking country -- soul -- pop- R&B -- jazz singer, and a mix of all these can be heard on the album. Kate has a wonderful sound. Her beautiful melodies and thought provoking lyrics are warmly delivered by her unforgettable voice which is rich and powerful, earning her many rave reviews. A graduate of the Conservatorium of Music, Kate's songwriting talents have also attracted the attention of acclaimed artists who have covered her songs including Deni Hines (New Day) and The Harminators (I Think this is it). For the past five years, Kate has been performing all over Sydney with a mixture of public, private and corporate events including singing at 'Rumba' in front of a packed Homebush Stadium as 2DayFM's chosen Sydney singer. She also performs in The Motown Show which has a busy schedule and has also performed as part of the impressive jazz-gospel vocal ensemble, 'Jubilation' (led by internationally renowned artists Joy Yeates and Dave MacRae) performing at premiere festivals throughout Australia and New Zealand for the past four years, including the Carols in the Domain TV spectacular backing Marcia Hines, Julie Anthony, Ross Wilson and Idols Guy Sebastian, Casey Donovan and Paulini. It takes a lot of courage and self belief to sing in front of people, what first inspired you to start singing and what kept you going through the early stages to develop the incredible voice and talent we hear today? Yes, when I was young there were a lot of very confident girls at school who sang, I knew singing was my very soul but my own confidence wasn't great and I would give away opportunities to them all the time. It's easy to stack the odds against yourself and harder to paint a
