The Rock-itt : January 2010
were having lunch on the beach. A bunker flew out to the man who was face down in the water getting dragged out to sea by the rip. When they got him to shore he was bright blue and foaming at the mouth. He was not breathing and had no pulse. Adam performed CPR on him and soon realised he was gone. Surprisingly, the thing that knocked us around the most wasn't the fact that a guy just died in front of us, but to have his wife and children screaming and jumping on him, pleading for him to wake up. Then have them screaming at us to do something. It's something I wish for nobody to have to go through. It's crazy how you can go from the biggest high to the lowest of lows in such a short space of time. Life goes on I guess... Our final stop was a very remote island that is considered one of the poorest places in the country. There was absolutely nothing there in terms of shops or hotels but on the other hand, the waves were once again perfect. Luckily enough thanks to our good friend's family who looked after us, we had a military escort to take us around. These guys spoke very little English but cooked for us, organised transport and were more than happy to sit down every arvo and have an icy cold San Miguel. We were lucky enough to find a couple of waves that we believe have never been surfed. They weren't the best waves of the trip but they definitely put the icing on the cake for an amazing trip. So, if you are up for an adventure and willing to do something different for a change, go to the Philippines. It will exceed all your expectations and more I can guarantee it. I would like to thank the Wallace family for their amazing hospitality and for always helping us out every time we visit. We could not thank you enough.
