The Rock-itt : January 2010
Terrey Hills Tavern has just won the prestigious 2009 "Best Metropolitan Hotel" N.S.W. and it's easy to see why -- with fabulous food, a kids' play area, easy access, lots of parking, a friendly open atmosphere and the best beer garden renovation I have ever come across. Entertainment in the way of live music doesn't seem to be a big focus for The Tav' but they still have lots of entertainment most nights with Trivia Tuesdays, Poker on Wednesday, D.J's Thursdays and a first class line up of Sydneys Best Soloists, Duo's and Trio's on Fridays and Saturdays. Performing regularly you will find the likes of: Tim Shaw, Jimmy Bear, The Bowman Sista's, Rebecca Johnson Band, Happy Daze, Shane Flew and In Pieces. Entertaining us tonight is "Happy Daze", a fun and entertaining trio that played a great mix of old and new covers that were well suited to the environment. They kicked off at around 8.30 pm and kept their playlist very light and easy early on whilst people were still eating, then bumped it up accordingly throughout the night and had everybody up on the dance floor from about 10pm till close. Happy Daze are a very good act with great vocals and guitar from Laura, nicelLead guitar from Peter and some solid bass from Dave. Happy Daze also use a drum machine but don't use any sequencers like most duos and trios at this level so they have a really live "Band" style rockin' sound. Just as I went to start taking some photos my camera's batteries decided to die after a long Xmas of family photography -- apologies but you just try getting batteries at Terrey Hills at around 10pm on Boxing Day. In summary, our group had a really nice evening at Terrey Hills Tavern as it is a great place for the whole family (not just Mum and Dad). We had a relaxed and fun evening with great food and fun entertainment. P.S. thanks for my song request, great job guys. Try The Terrey Hills Tavern for your next night of good food and entertainment.
