The Rock-itt : December 2009
NSW BREAKERS COMING TO MANLY!! The NSW Breakers will be at Manly Oval on December 11,12 and 13 for a top-of-the-table clash with the Vic Spirit in Round Three of the 2009/10 Women's National Cricket League and Domestic Twenty20 competitions. The defending National League champions, NSW are currently second on both tables behind the Victorians after winning both their Twenty20 matches and three out of four National League games. On December 11 the teams will play a Twenty20 fixture starting at 3pm, followed by two 50 over matches on Saturday and Sunday starting at 10am. Entry to all three games is free so make sure you get out to the ground to see some of Australia's finest female cricketers put on a show! Two of the stars for the Breakers so far this summer have been opening batter Alex Blackwell and fast bowler Ellyse Perry. Blackwell is coming off 121 not out against the ACT in Canberra and is one of the top ten run scorers in the National League so far. She also boasts the best strike rate of any batter in the Twenty20 competition, scoring at 150 runs per 100 balls faced. Ellyse Perry is currently the leading bowler in the National League with eight wickets from three games. 'Pez' has also been in good touch with the bat, scoring a match winning 66 against Queensland at North Sydney Oval. For several players, this round of matches will also serve as a warm up for when they represent the Australian U/21 team against New Zealand Emerging Players. Erin Osborne, Alyssa Healy, Sarah Coyte, Ellyse Perry and Angela Reakes will all wear the green and gold in that series which starts at Blacktown Olympic Park on December 16.
