The Rock-itt : November 2009
Review and Photos by DaveTozer.com.au and Grant Lawrence (for more photos www.myspace.com/davetozerphotos and www.myspace.com/octoberpusfestival ) Photos of The Future Device and Sludge Buzzard by Matt Hunt Well the time came and went again for yet another successful Octoberpus Festival. Into its13th year this year (the first being in 1992 thru to1996 then started up again in 2002 till present) this mini festival has seen many a band perform and show their uniqueness, for very appreciative audiences who have only grown in numbers as the festival continues each year. The line up this year was a diverse one again, ranging from rock through to punk/hardcore bands, comprising of mainly local acts as it is each year, and with another record sized crowd, the night went off with the following: Up first was new band The Future Device ripping through a set of high energy keyboard driven tunes opening with Ignite Before Sunrise. The band delivered to an appreciative audience who had come early in decent numbers to witness their first proper show. It was the first show with singer Scotty now full time on vocals. Also joining them on a couple of mellower styled tunes, their good friend Amy belted it out in very nice fashion, in particular doing an awesome job on Plateaus, helping Scotty along nicely. The band concluded their set with their powerful catchy track Final Even Score. Keep an eye out for their next show
