The Rock-itt : November 2009
Wagga Wagga. We had no idea what to expect from this town, but we were blown away. Wednesday night in Wagga is Uni night and being the last week of term, Wagga was going off. By our third song the venue was full and the crowd was dancing their arses off, singing and clapping along and really made the tour for us. We'll be going back there soon for sure! Day 8 - Day off. Dropped Bob Corbett at the airport driving through lots of fields of yellow, which we agreed must be Canola (?). The evening was highlighted by a Karaoke contest between Justin and Paul (and the rest of the pub). Pete manned the video camera and gave his pipes a rest. There were a few sore heads the next morning. Day 9 - Canberra. I have to admit that I've never felt comfortable in Canberra. It really just does not resonate with me at all. We find our way to the venue to see that while it is set up for live music, the place is basically a "well to do" wine bar, more suited to politicians looking for a vino after a hard days doing-not- much. We persevere with the venue owner and he decides to book us accommodation at the last minute. The crowd was pretty good, but we have to admit that the "vibe" just wasn't there for this one. We played our hearts out, but after the madness of the Snow and Wagga, this was an unwelcome dose of "boring" from the Nations capitol. Day 10 - Manly. Good to be on home turf again. It has been a while since we've played the Fisho's and the guys there have done a great job upgrading the stage and equipment. We were fortunate to have to excellent support acts on with us in Sea Monster and a new band called Chico Seeds (made up of ex members of Erratic). We had a great crowd come in for the night and all 3 bands turned in top shows. Day 11 - And then we went home. : Sunroom continue their touring throughout October, November, December and will continue their residency at the Newport Arms every third Sunday through Summer so make sure you go check the boys out!
