The Rock-itt : October 2009
There has been much discussion at the local watering holes all along the Beaches that internal conflict plus the loss of Brett Stewart for most of the season is the reason that we fizzled out. But let's not forget the monumental year that preceded this season and I think people need to realise that to repeat such a fantastic performance a second time is extremely rare. We won a grand final then went overseas and won the World Challenge Club Championship, something that no one has done for quite a while. We have some exciting prospects for next season, with Big George Rose teaming up with Jason King leading the charge. Then our new player from the Cowboys, Ben Farrar and young gun, Kieran Foran, whom I hope will be played at 5/8th. This will allow Jamie Lyon to play his natural game in the centres alongside Steve Mattai. Steve has had plenty of neck and shoulder problems over the season but he is an exceptional good centre and I hope he is retained in that position. The sad fact that we have lost Adam Cuthbertson to the Sharks is something which makes me think, "there gain and our loss". I think Adam would have been a great acquisition to the Sea Eagles if retained, but it is all wishful thinking now. As I write this last Sea Eagles article for 2009, I am looking forward to the Parramatta verses Storm Grand Final tomorrow. Our hotshot young gun Sports Journalist, Brody Robinson will be covering the event so don't forget to check out what Brody has to say in our sports section. We have Test matches between this season and next which I'm sure Brody will be covering.
